Capstone Partners Announces Industry and Practice Group Leaders

Following the company’s merger with Huntington National Bank earlier this year, appointments are underway to support growth and acquisitions, and ensure the business remains navigable as it continues to expand both in terms of scale and scope.

The leadership appointments will cover twelve industry groups and four specialist services practices, which collectively provide a full range of services to business owners, investors and creditors.

  • Head of Aerospace and Defense Industry Group -Ian Cookson

Cookson has over 25 years of investment banking experience and has advised over $5 billion in transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures and refinancings.

  • Building Products and Services Industry Group LeaderGood Darin

Over the past 25+ years, Good has led business owners and their boards through successful deals more than 70 times, and the team currently has 15 active deals in the market.

Balaban has over 25 years of experience and has served as lead banker in over 75 M&A transactions, primarily in the corporate services market. The team is currently working on more than 20 active mandates.

Wasik remains Head of the firm’s Consumer Investment Banking group, which has nearly 40 active mandates in progress. Wasik was appointed to lead the Group after several years of explosive growth in Consumer.

Voorhees continues to lead the firm’s Education & Training Investment Banking group, which has completed more than 60 transactions since 2010 and has 15 active mandates currently in the market.

Kinsman has over 20 years of investment banking experience in various energy sectors and throughout his career has completed transactions totaling more than $2 billion value.

Francione has over 25 years of experience in investment banking and corporate finance and the group collectively has over 15 active market mandates and a historical deal average of almost $200 million in valuation.

During their careers in investment banking, Williams successfully completed over 100 deals in the space and Baker accounted for over $4 billion in total deal value.

  • Industrial Technology Industry Group Leader Peter Nam

Nam will continue to lead the company’s industrial technology investment banking group, as announced recently. The Firm remains very optimistic on the industrial technologies market and pursues an aggressive expansion plan for the Group.

With over 55 years of collective experience, Bench and Polk currently lead over 20 active engagements and have won 17 industry awards for their distinct consulting work.

Michaels will continue to lead the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecom Investment Banking group, which has already completed four transactions so far in 2022 and currently leads more than 20 active mandates.

  • Transport and Logistics Industry Group LeaderBurke Smith

Smith has over 20 years of experience and is a recognized industry expert, having advised over 45 transactions with a combined value of over $40 billion.

In addition to the company’s twelve industry groups, Capstone has appointed group leaders to lead their four specialist service groups which provide a full range of corporate finance solutions. These groups include:

  • Group Head Financial Advisory Services (FAS)Jim Calander

Calandra has over 25 years of experience in turnaround management consulting, interim management, fraud and forensic accounting, mergers and acquisitions and recapitalizations. Brian Davies will continue to act as managing partner of FAS, and Jamie Lisac will serve as head of the group’s special situation investment banking team.

Brown will continue as head of the Debt Advisory Group, bringing more than 30 years of corporate debt placement and advisory experience through his more than 100 closed corporate debt transactions.

Bluse and Huebner, appointed co-heads of the firm’s equity advisory group, bring more than 50 years of combined experience and have advised on capital formation transactions that exceed $3 billion in aggregate financing value.
