If you are eligible and have not yet received your £150 council energy tax refund, letters are on their way.

In response to rising energy prices, the government announced earlier this year that households in AD Council tax brackets will receive a one-time rebate of £150 between April and September 2022.

Most Oldham residents who pay by direct debit have now received their payments.

Working with the Post, the council has started sending barcoded letters to eligible households who are not paying by direct debit, and to the small number of direct debit residents where the council has been unable to make a payment directly to the bank account. .

The council urges residents to seek out and take care of the letter which contains a special barcode which can be used to collect the £150 cash at any post office branch. Most letters will be posted by July 1, 2022. However, the board is still reviewing a number of accounts that have undergone changes since April 1 to ensure letters are sent to the right person at the right place. address, these should be sent by July 20, 2022.

Councilor Abdul Jabbar MBE, Deputy Leader of Oldham Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, said: ‘With the cost of living rising, I know how important this payment is to our residents. Agents have been working hard over the past few months to ensure that we can provide rebates to eligible households as quickly and easily as possible.

“We’ve upgraded our systems to help with that and to make sure deals don’t fail like many other boards have experienced.

“With the latest letters sent to residents, I urge those eligible who have not yet received the refund to keep an eye out for a letter from council with important instructions and a barcode they can use to collect the £150 in cash. directly from the post office.

All the person named on the letter needs to do is go to their local post office by August 31, 2022 with a valid ID. This can be a passport, driver’s license with photo, bank or building society statement (less than 3 months old), or a gas, electricity or utility bill. water (less than 6 months old).
